Model of a Swiss patrol plane. Background of this very conspicuous printing of the national insignia is the fact that the aircraft ordered in Germany were used for patrol flights over neutral Switzerland. Since often German opponents flew over the neutral Swiss airspace, it often came to confusion with the only there patrolling aircraft and it energized energetic air struggles. To rule out the confusion with German fighter aircraft, the Swiss Air Force marked its aircraft fleet in this striking red / white stripe marking, which varied greatly. As early as the 1930s, Switzerland bought German fighter aircraft in all variants as well as various spare parts and corresponding ammunition.
