The original feature of moving the loading platform by 400 mm sideways has been deactivated. Transportation unit for special containers for used fuel rods CASTOR V/19 or V/52. (CASTOR=CASK FOR STORAGE AND TRANSPORT OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL V = 5 years fading time; 19 respectively 52 = number of fule rods). CASTOR containers and transport chassis are transferred to a road flatbed trailer as one unit by means of a crane and vice versa. The fixing points for special attachments are accessible after opening the upper covers that can be moved lengthwise. A suitable crane is for instance the Liebherr mobile crane LTM 1400 or similar or the DB 150/160t rail based crane by Krupp (Goliath) or some stationary cranes.
